Gateway into Latino culture offered by two Episcopal provinces

Mujeres Unida En Liderazgo (MUEL) workshop in Florida

[ENS] Space is limited for the May 27-29 Mujeres Unidas En Liderazgo
(MUEL)-"Women United in Leadership"-workshop.

Offered by the Office of Hispanic Ministries of the Episcopal Church and
sponsored by Hispanic Ministries of Province IV, MUEL is training
Latinas in
leadership to help them carry out their ministry more effectively, both
in
their church and community.

The workshop will be held at the Dayspring Conference Center in
Ellenton,
Florida.

Intensive four-day Spanish language course at ETSS

[ENS] Province VII's Center for Hispanic Ministries will offer an
intensive
course June 20-24 at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest
in
Austin, Texas for those preparing for mission to Latinos living in the
United States.

The Rev. Jaime Case, center director, will lead the course designed for
lay
and ordained persons. Participants do not have to be proficient in the
Spanish language since instruction will be in English.

During the four days, participants will cover such topics as the
Latino/Hispanic in the United States, popular religious traditions, the
church year, celebrations, pastoral care, and Christian education.
Cultural
engagement, the importance of Hispanic Episcopal mission, traditions of
funding, demographics, and values, authority and culture will also be
explored.

Cost of the week - including housing and food on campus - is $600. The
class
is a two- credit hour equivalent course. For more information, visit

Since its founding in 1980, the Center for Hispanic Ministries has
advocated
for and supported ministry and evangelism to Latin Americans. The Center
is
the only such provincial resource in the Episcopal Church.
