News Service adopts new 'beat' system

by Presbyterian News Service

LOUISVILLE ? The Presbyterian News Service (PNS), the official news agency of
the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), has announced a new "beat" system ? with
each of the four PNS reporters responsible for covering specific areas of
ministry ? effective June 1.

The changes resulted from the addition of Toya Richards Hill to the
PNS staff in January, and the increased administrative workload of PNS
Coordinator Jerry Van Marter.

"These changes have been made to more equitably distribute the
reporting load within PNS and to provide more flexibility in covering stories
throughout the church and the world," Van Marter said.

The beats:

Van Marter: Office of the General Assembly
Congregational Ministries Publishing ? CMD
"Mission Connections" ? WMD
General Assembly Council (GAC) Governance Task Force

Alexa Smith: WMD, except Global Service and Witness, "Mission Connections"
Women's Ministries ? NMD
Advocacy Committee on Women's Concerns

office

Toya Hill: CMD, except Congregational Ministries Publishing
