American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 8/4/05)--Dr. Florence
E. Stansbury, a longtime leader in ministries of education for American
Baptist Churches USA, died July 22.  She was 97.

Following a decade of work as a school teacher, Stansbury joined the
staff of the Department of Missionary and Stewardship Education in 1942.
She later served as director of the Department of Education for Missions
for the (then) Board of Education and Publication, and focused on
developing a wide range of
programs for children within the denomination and ecumenically through
the National Council of Churches and World Council of Churches.

She retired in 1978 and remained active in ministries of the Church of
the Beatitudes in St. Petersburg, Fla.	A memorial service will be held
at that church Aug. 6.
