PRINCETON, NJ - Princeton Theological Seminary and Union Theological Seminary
and Presbyterian School of Christian Education (Union-PSCE) will co-sponsor
an Oct. 24 videoconference on the report of the Theological Task Force on
Peace, Unity and Purity of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Task force members Milton J. Coalter, library director and professor
at Union-PSCE, and Frances Taylor Gench, a New Testament professor there,
will participated from Richmond, VA, while W. Stacy Johnson, a theology
professor at Princeton seminary, will take part from Princeton, NJ.

The task force released a report with six main recommendations last
month; it will be voted on by the PC(USA) General Assembly next June. The
cost to participate in the videoconference is $20 for individuals and $100
for church groups of up to 10 people. For more information, call (609)
497-7990.

RICHMOND, VA - Union-PSCE and the Presbytery of the James will celebrate
their 200-year partnership on Oct. 9. Students and faculty from Union-PSCE
will preach and teach Sunday school in POJ churches in honor of their
longtime connection. The relationship between the two entities dates back to
the 1800s, when Hanover Presbytery (now the Presbytery of the James) created
a theological library for divinity students. That library evolved into Union
Theological Seminary, which was established in 1812.

###

AUSTIN, TEXAS - The Robert M. Shelton Chapel at Austin Presbyterian
Theological Seminary has a new bell, donated by Dr. Elgin and Karen Ware of
Dallas. The 800-pound bronze bell was dedicated during the seminary's 2005
convocation on Sept. 6. The chapel also has new two spires; one is a
replacement for one damaged by lightning in 2004, and the other had to be
removed to make a mold for the new ones.

###

LOUISVILLE - Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary held its 153rd
convocation and installation service on Sept. 8 in the Frank H. and Fannie W.
Caldwell Chapel. New this year was a rite of matriculation to welcome 48 new
students and eight new employees.

Of the incoming class, 39 are enrolled in the Master of Divinity
(Mdiv) degree program, six in the Master of Arts in Marriage and Family
Therapy (MAMFT) program, one in the Master of Arts in Religion (MA), and two
in the Master of Theology (ThM) program. Four incoming students have enrolled
in dual programs, combining theology (MDiv) with law and social work at the
University of Louisville, marriage and family therapy at Louisville Seminary,
and the Master of Arts in spirituality at Bellarmine University. Four
returning students have added the MAMFT to their current MDiv studies.

DECATUR, GA - Four Columbia Theological Seminary professors have collaborated
on a book: Shaking Heaven and Earth: Essays in Honor of Walter Brueggemann
and Charles B. Cousar.

The volume was edited by Christine Roy Yoder, associate professor of
Old Testament language, literature and exegesis; Kathleen M. O'Connor, the
William Marcellus McPheeters Professor of Old Testament; E. Elizabeth
Johnson, the J. Davison Philips Professor of New Testament; and Stanley P.
Saunders, associate professor of New Testament.

Shaking Heaven and Earth, published this summer by Westminster John
Knox Press, is based on presentations made during an April 2003 symposium
marking the retirements of Beueggemann and Cousar.
