AUSTIN, TX - Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary began its 103rd
academic year on Sept. 6, welcoming 54 new students, including 49 in the
master of divinity program, two in the master of arts in theological studies
program and one as an ecumenical student through an exchange with Debrecen
Reformed Theology University in Hungary. Also taking classes in the fall
semester are 47 non-degree students, 24 in Austin and 23 in the Houston
Extension Program.

DECATUR, GA - Columbia Theological Seminary is offering a spiritual renewal
experience for mid-career pastors through its Lifelong Learning program.
"Journey of Faith: A Pilgrimage of Discernment for Ministry" includes a
two-week pilgrimage to the Holy Land and two short retreats, one before and
one after the pilgrimage. Expenses, for travel, accommodations, meals and
materials, will be paid through a foundation grant.

Participants can choose from two pilgrimages, the first from Jan. 30
through Feb. 11, 2006, the other May 1-13. The application deadline is Oct.
14. "Journey of Faith" is open to pastors of any denomination who have at
least 10 years in ordained ministry and are serving congregations. Enrollment

LOUISVILLE - Peace educator Harry Pickens will offer a series of free
lectures and workshops on "Sowing Seeds of the Beloved Community" Oct. 8-10
at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. As the guest presenter for
the seminary's 2005-'06 Edwards Lecture, Pickens, a jazz pianist, will lead
three sessions of story and dialogue and two contemplative sessions that will
incorporate music and prayer. The annual event honors local activist and
former Seminary Prof. George Edwards and his wife, Jean. For information or

LOUISVILLE - Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary will contribute to
national Domestic Violence Awareness month by offering a series of workshops:
"Domestic Violence: It Is Your Business - Why and How Men Should Care." The
series, being offered through the seminary's Women's Center, is primarily for
men but open to all. The three free sessions will be held on Oct. 26, Nov. 2
and Nov. 9, from 7 p.m. to 9. Participants will address such issues as gender
dynamics and violence and how preachers, counselors and others can help. The
Seminary's Center for Congregations and Family Ministries helped pay for the
program through a grant to the Women's Center. Participants may sign up for

PITTSBURGH - Ralph D. Winter, the 2005 W. Don McClure lecturer, will present
"Planetary Events and the Mission of the Church," lead three lectures and a
chapel service at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary Oct. 3- 4. Winter is the
founder of Frontier Mission Fellowship, U.S. Center for World Mission and
William Carey International University. All events are free and open to the

PRINCETON, NJ - Princeton Theological Seminary began its 194th academic year
with a convocation on Sept.13. Classes began on Sept. 14. This year's
entering class includes 30 new foreign nationals from 23 countries, including
Ghana, Myanmar, the Philippines, Korea, Kenya, Taiwan, Germany, Croatia,
Brazil, Hungary, India, Argentina, Canada, Egypt, Denmark, Great Britain and
Thailand.

PRINCETON, NJ - Dr. Leander E. Keck, the Winkley Professor Emeritus of
Biblical Theology at Yale University Divinity School, will deliver the annual
Stone Lectures at Princeton Theological Seminary Oct. 3-6. His theme will be
"Jesus in New Testament Christology." The lectures, which are free and open
to the public, will be held in Mackay Campus Center. For more information,

RICHMOND, VA - Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of
Christian Education has an entering class of 92 this year, including 17
students from five foreign countries - France, Ghana, India, Korea and
Switzerland. Classes began on Sept. 12. Thirteen of the foreign students are
in regular degree programs.

SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco Theological Seminary has offered campus housing
for nine months to seven families whose homes were destroyed by Hurricane
Katrina. In addition to the housing on the seminary's San Anselmo campus,
SFTS will provide counseling services and clothing. Seven dwellings have been
set aside for the families, and a Katrina Relief Fund has been created to
help meet the new residents' needs for clothing, food, furniture and other
essentials. Area congregations, synagogues and service organizations
interested in partnering in this ministry of hospitality should contact Lynn
