On September 21, 2005, MECC/Justice, Peace & Human Rights (JPHR) started a
training workshop for the support, empowerment and development of local NGOs
dealing with children with special needs and living in difficult
circumstances. Around 35 participants from the district of Sidon in South
Lebanon, representing different organizations, came together for 15
consecutive days to deepen knowledge and skills. Targeting girls and boys
aged 12-17 years, the workshop took place in turn, in the premises of the
different specialized NGOs, according to topic raised.

Active learning and educational games enriched the workshops and the outcome
was shared with the participants on a CD, to be used in their own local
initiatives.

On September 24, 2005, the JPHR and the Lebanese National Supreme Council
for Childhood in Lebanon organized jointly a one-day follow-up meeting at
the office of the Lebanese Ministry for Development and Social Affairs in
Beirut, to discuss the final plan of action on the Child's Participation at
all levels of life. Participants, representing different NGOs dealing with
children¹s right and development, worked out a feasible and detailed budget
for the implementation of the national plan.
