New interfaith consultant for the Episcopal Church

Bishop C. Christopher Epting, the Presiding Bishop's deputy for ecumenical
and interfaith relations, recently announced the appointment of the Rev.
Dr. Gwynne Guibord as the new interfaith consultant for his office.

Guibord currently serves as the officer of ecumenical and interreligious
concerns for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, and is the Province
VIII coordinator for ecumenical and interreligious concerns.

"My associate, Dr. Tom Ferguson, and I are extremely happy to welcome
Gwynne to our team," said Epting. "She will be available to represent
us in various interfaith forums, will be a knowledgeable and helpful
consultant on interfaith questions, and will also be available to advise
the Standing Commission on Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations."

Guibord also serves on a number of boards: past president of the
California Council of Churches, past president of Progressive Christians
Uniting (an organization founded by process theologian Dr. John Cobb
and the Rev. Canon George Regas), vice president of Southern California
Ecumenical Council, chair of the national board of the Interfaith
Alliance, vice president of LA's Interreligious Council, trustee of the
Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions, and board member of
the National Advisory Board of Claremont School of Theology.

She was sent to Oxford by the Council for a Parliament of the World's
Religions to meet and dialogue with 32 interfaith leaders from around
the globe in preparation for the Parliament, which was held in Barcelona
in July of 2004. She presented at the 8th World Council of Churches
General Assembly in Harare, Zimbabwe as well as the Ecumenical Decade:
Women in Solidarity with Women in 1998.

As trustee of the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions,
Guibord was in Montserrat for the Parliament Assembly for dialogues with
other interfaith leaders from around the world in July of 2004. After
Montserrat she was in Barcelona at the Parliament's Convening of 'Pathways
to Peace: the Wisdom of Listening, the Power of Commitment.' She moderated
a panel on behalf of Kashi Ashram entitled: 'Embracing the Feminine in
Spirituality: Transcending Chaos and Awakening Peace in the World.' Her
second presentation was as Chair of The Interfaith Alliance in a speech
called: 'Religion and Government: One Principle, Many Perspectives.'

Georgia priest launches weekday podcasts of "Morning Prayer"

The Rev. Brenda Monroe, a priest in Clayton, Ga., has launched a
podcast of weekday Morning Prayer services with a special group in mind:
commuters.

Monroe, a member of the Standing Commission on Episcopal Church
Communication, thought she'd do something that combines her love for
the Episcopal Church and interest in applying technology to augment the
spiritual journey.

"With Atlanta having one of the longest average commutes, this ministry
is a tool to transform that travel time into time with God," she said.

The podcasts offer the Morning Prayer service with the appropriate
readings for the day. Monroe reads the liturgy from the Book of Common
Prayer Rite II. Scriptures are from the New Revised Standard Version
of the Bible, and the psalms are from "Psalter for the Christian People."

The program isn't just for commuters. It can be downloaded onto
a home computer as well as an iPod. To access the program, go
to http://morningprayer.libsyn.com. Users who want to have the
podcast downloaded automatically can sign up for the free service at
http://morningprayer.libsyn.com/rss.
