Joint MECC/International Islamic Forum for Dialogue Statement on the
Kidnapping of Christian Peacemaking Team (CPT) Members in Iraq

On December 4, 2005 MECC General Secretary, Mr. Guirgis Saleh and Professor
Dr. Hamid Bin Ahmad Al Rifaie issued a joint statement on behalf of their
respective organ zations, denouncing the kidnapping of four members of the
CPT in Iraq and qualifying it as an ugly aggression on the freedom and
dignity of the human being.

Dr. Rifaie and Mr. Saleh emphasize that this act constitutes a flagrant
distortion of the aims of the Iraqi struggle against the occupation, a
violation of all religious values and spirit of human solidarity towards the
Arab cause for a Palestinian independent state with Jerusalem as its
capital, and towards the achievement of independence and peace in Iraq.
