Presiding Bishop is celebrant at annual Huntington sermon and dinner

[Episcopal News Service] Presiding Bishop Frank T. Griswold will serve
as principal celebrant at the annual William Reed Huntington sermon and
dinner at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in New York City.

This annual tradition, in honor of Huntington, will be held on January
18, at 6 p.m. Huntington was rector of Grace Episcopal Church, Manhattan,
and author of the Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral of 1888. The Quadrilateral
is the document upon which all ecumenical dialogue between the Episcopal
Church and other Christian churches has been based.

This year, the achievement of full communion between the Episcopal
Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will be the focus
of the celebration.

Along with Griswold, the Rt. Rev. Mark S. Hanson, Presiding Bishop of
the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will preach the sermon.

Also participating will be Bishop Stephen P. Bouman of the ELCA
Metropolitan Synod, Bishop Mark S. Sisk of the Episcopal Diocese of
New York; the Rev. Canon J. Robert Wright, professor of ecclesiastical
History at General Theological Seminary and president of the Anglican
Society; and the Rev. J. Donald Waring, rector of Grace Church, who
will bring the loving cup which was presented to Huntington as a symbol
of the continuing legacy of this visionary preacher and churchman.

The event is co-sponsored by the Anglican Society, St. Peter's Lutheran
Church and the Ecumenical Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of New York,
chaired by the Rev. Paul Clayton.
