Episcopal Books & Resources operations continue during renovation

[Episcopal News Service] The online and telephone operations of
Episcopal
Books & Resources will continue uninterrupted while first-floor retail
space
at the Episcopal Church Center undergoes renovation during the next 15
weeks.

As renovation begins, Episcopal Books & Resources begins the next phase
of
its reorganization, reflecting last year's merger of the former Parish
Services and Church Center bookstore into one inventory.

The future of the ground-floor retail space is also the subject of
ongoing
review by the Episcopal Church Center Management Team and the Executive
Council. The Council's Administration and Finance Committee on January
11
appointed a task force to study options and recommendations for future
use.

Concurrently, inventory will be refined -- in consultation with all
program
units at the Church Center -- to provide optimal resources for the
ongoing
phone and web order services.

The reorganization also includes reassignment of the duties of the
former
positions of bookstore manager and assistant manager.

"The Church Center Management Team joins me in giving thanks for the
past 25
years of service provided by Constancio de Jesus, and the more recent 15
years of service rendered by Ana Hernandez," said Canon Robert Williams,
director of the Church Center's Office of Communication, of which
Episcopal
Books and Resources is a division. "We wish both Ana and Constancio the
best
in their future endeavors."

The wider portfolio of Episcopal Books & Resources -- recently expanded
to
include the Info Desk, Publication Help Desk, retail sales, and overall
product distribution -- is now overseen by Bernice Lucas as General
Manager.

Lucas is a 17-year employee of the Episcopal Church Center with
strategic
expertise in customer service, comprehensive knowledge of the Church,
and
previous retail management experience in industry.

"Bernie is a skilled professional with wide knowledge of the Episcopal
Church," Williams said in announcing Lucas's appointment. "Together we
look
forward to providing optimal customer service and quality resources
through
our phone and online operations in the interest of strengthening the
Church's mission and ministries."
