Taiwan Youth Sought as International Ecumenical Participants

Sleeping comes easy in the summer heat, and young people love to sleep. But the youth work centre of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan already has other plans. Registration for participation in the ¡§I Love Taiwan Mission 2006¡¨ project has opened, and applicants who are accepted for the foreign-language preparation phase of the project are scheduled for their first training session on 17th March.

Theological College and head of the church¡¦s Ecumenical Committee, noted that in mid-February some young people from Taiwan had gone to Brazil to take part in the assembly of the World Council of Churches. They represented Taiwan and its churches as ecumenical youth ambassadors. This not only broke through their own cultural shells, but also uplifted the important duty of international fellowship and exchange.

The Youth Work Centre builds on many years of

significant participation in ecumenical work. The ¡§I Love Taiwan Mission 2006¡¨ project will send participants to Switzerland, Japan, New Zealand and other countries. From June 29 to July 15 over a hundred international youth from many countries will also come to Taiwan and be dispersed to churches around the nation for gospel work. From now until 13th March applications are being received for both parts of the project. What are needed are young people from Taiwan who are willing and able to be assistants in the local phase.

The training session on 17th March will involve local church leaders, such as Ms. Lee Le-hun, who have extensive international experience.
