CHICAGO, IL - The annual Holy Week African-American Church Leadership Lecture at McCormick Theological Seminary will feature the Rev. Brad Braxton, speaking on "Walking with God: Homiletics and Holiness" on April 12. Braxton is an associate professor of homiletics and New Testament at Vanderbilt University. The lecture, free and open to the public, is part of a Holy Week observance by the seminary and one of its valued church partners, Progressive Community Center - The People's Church. PITTSBURGH, PA - The Metro-Urban Institute of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary is presenting a three-day conference titled, "What Does Our Theology Say? An International Conference on Theological Education and HIV/AIDS." The March 31-April 1 event will bring church leaders, theological educators, social workers and public and health professionals together to discuss ways of helping congregations address the HIV/AIDS pandemic. PITTSBURGH, PA - The Board of Directors of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary has named a campus residence building Calian Hall in honor of the seminary's fourth president, the recently retired Rev. Carnegie Samuel Calian, and his wife, Doris. The Calians served the seminary for 25 years beginning in 1981. Calian Hall, completed in 2003, is the newest building on campus; it provides living quarters for students with climate control and Internet access. Guest housing also is available for alumni, prospective students and participants in seminary events.

PRINCETON, NJ - Nancy Lammers Gross, an associate professor of speech communication in ministry at Princeton Theological Seminary, has been named dean of student life, a three-year appointment. She retains her tenured appointment to the faculty, and will continue to teach speech communication classes.

PRINCETON, NJ - He Qi, one of China's best-known contemporary Christian artists, will discuss his work and his spiritual journey during and after the Cultural Revolution during a visit to Princeton Theological Seminary on April 5. Qi's presentation, titled "Look toward the Heavens: The Art World of He Qi," will include slides of his work. The event will take place in the Erdman Art Gallery at the Center of Continuing Education in Princeton. Qi is a professor at Nanjing Union Theological Seminary and a tutor at Nanjing University. RICHMOND, VA - Louis B. Weeks, president of Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education, will retire on June 30, 2007. Weeks became the institution's sixth president in May 1994. During his tenure, the seminary's accomplishments have included merging with the Presbyterian School of Christian Education; developing an extension campus in Charlotte, NC; completing a $31 million comprehensive campaign; launching another financial campaign for $50 million (of which 85 percent has been committed); broadening the diversity of the faculty with 21 appointments, and creating an assortment of programs of outreach to congregations. John Kuykendall, a member of the seminary's board and a retired president of Davidson College, will serve as chairman of a presidential search committee.
