ABCUSA: National Ministries Communications Win National Recognition

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS)-National Ministries' communications staff will receive awards for excellence in communications during 2005 at the annual convention of the Religion Communicators Council (RCC) March 30 - April 1 in Dallas, Texas.

Creative Director Danny Ellison will accept two graphic design awards: an award of excellence for the cover of The Christian Citizen (Vol. 3) and a certificate of merit for a National Ministries banner.

Diane Vescovi, staff writer, will receive a certificate of merit in writing for a story, "Taking Care of America's Sons and Daughters," about Col. Eric C. Holmstrom, an American Baptist Army Reserves chaplain who completed a tour of duty directing the pastoral services department at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany last year. The article was published in the Nov./Dec. 2005 issue of Mission in America.

In the photography category, Susan Gottshall, associate executive director of communications, will accept an award of excellence for a color photograph snapped in the wake of Hurricane Katrina's destruction in Pass Christian, Miss.

RCC is an interfaith association of more than 600 religion communicators working in print and electronic communication, marketing and public relations. The organization offers opportunities for religion communicators to learn from each other. Together, RCC members promote excellence in the communication of religious faith and values in the public arena and encourage understanding among religious and faith groups.
