Title: Taiwan's National Prayer Breakfast Scheduled for May 27, 2006 Taiwan Church News 2823 3-9 April 2006 Reported by Lin Yi-ying. Written by David Alexander

This year's National Prayer Breakfast has been scheduled for 27th May and will be held in the 9th floor Auditorium at Mackay Memorial Hospital, an agency of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, in Taipei. This year's theme "Hope in Adversity" is based on the words of Jesus recorded in John 16:33, ". . .in the world you face persecution. But take courage: I have conquered the world!¨ Taiwan's president Chen Shui-bian will address the assembly and join the prayers for Taiwan's people, nation and society.

The event's preparatory committee is working within a framework of beginning the meeting at 8 AM with a ¡§Praise Drill¡¨ under the leadership of Wu Mei-yun. The Rev. Kou Shao-en will lead the events, and Rev. Chang Te-chien will offer words of welcome. Preaching will be by Dr. C.M. Kao and Rev. Chou Sin-cho, and prayers led by the Rev. James Hsia and others.

The committee asks that all church groups in Taiwan send representatives, and adds an invitation to all to join in promoting a monthly time of prayer and worship with President Chen at the Presidential Offices. If there is enough support for the idea, the committee believes, it will become a reality.
