Toward Columbus: Blue Book on its way
[ENS] The Blue Book -- which has a green cover for this year -- is in the mail and has already been received by many of the Episcopal Church's bishops and deputies to General Convention.
The Blue Book is the collection of the reports to the General Convention of the work of the committees, commissions, agencies, and boards during the triennium, along with resolutions they will propose to the 75th General Convention that meets June 13-21 in Columbus, Ohio.
An electronic version of the Blue Book will be available at http://www.episcopalchurch.org/53785_10765_ENG_HTM.htm. The hard copy version of the 463-page book will be available in two weeks for online purchase from Church Publishing at www.churchpublishing.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=product&ProductID=435.
Also included in the Blue Book mailing were two DVDS. One, "Come and Grow," is an orientation video for bishops and deputies, especially those who will be attending Convention for the first time this June. The video can be viewed online at www.episcopalchurch.org/53785_73235_ENG_HTM.htm.
The other DVD features presentations by the four bishops nominated by the Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop. Those presentations will be available for viewing online at http://www.episcopalchurch.org/3577_71124_ENG_HTM.htm. The DVD was accompanied by a booklet about the nominees and their responses to questions posed to them by the nominating committee. It can be read at http://www.episcopalchurch.org/53785_10765_ENG_HTM.htm?menu=menu71830.
Another DVD featuring the additional three nominees by petition is due to be released in May.
The Blue Book was produced through the General Convention Office and edited by Anne Karoly, staff assistant for publications.
