Electrical fire disrupts Presbyterian Center operations

Official says work will return to normal within 24 hours

LOUISVILLE - A minor electrical fire on the sixth floor of the Presbyterian Center here has disrupted some national staff work for about a day.

Security staff at the center said the fire was reported at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday evening (April 19).

Most of the damage was caused by water from the building's sprinkler systems, which "worked perfectly," said Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) CFO Joey Bailey. In addition to the sixth floor, some offices on the fourth and fifth floors of the building also sustained minor water damage.

The denomination's financial offices are located in the immediate area of the fire. Those workers have been relocated to other parts of the Presbyterian Center until the mess caused by the fire can be cleaned up. Bailey said the clean-up should not take more than one day. "We should be back to normal within 24 hours," he said.
