Taiwan's Presbyterians Seek Youth for Ecumenical Exchanges

Taiwan Church News 2826 24-30 April 2006

Reported by Li Hsin-ren. Written by David Alexander

With summer drawing near, the Youth Committee of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) has opened a search for young people to participate in ecumenical exchange programmes and short-term mission projects in Switzerland, New Zealand, Japan, India and Thailand.

This year's ecumenical youth exchange plan aims to increase the ecumenical and mission vision of Taiwan's young people and to deepen their faith experience and self-understandings.

Three criteria are set forth for those who would desire to participate: 1) They must be members of the PCT between 18 and 30 years of age; 2) They must be willing to represent the PCT and its mission drive "Identify, Commit, Grow" among international youth; 3) They must be self motivated and capable of adapting to all sorts of different environments, cultures and languages.

Beginning on 8th May the Youth Committee will visit urban centers around Taiwan to hold explanatory meetings, inviting volunteers to submit applications. Interviews will be held on 2 and 3 June, and selections announced by 5 June. o For more information: Etan Pavavalang +886 2 23625282 ext. 342 youth@mail.pct.org.tw
