Bracelets are reminders to 'dream God's dream'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) - R?ve, träumen Sie, sonhe, me?ta?, drøm, dream.
No matter how you say it, the Division on Ministries with Young People wants you to do one thing: dream God's dreams.
Brown latex bracelets featuring the word "dream" in English, French, Danish, Portuguese, German and Russian are available from the division for $9.90 for a package of 10. Proceeds from the sale of the bracelets will benefit the AIDS Orphan Trust (70 percent) and the Division on Ministries with Young People (30 percent).
"To dream captures the spirit, creation and work of the Division on Ministries with Young People," said the Rev. Lillian Smith, top executive of the division. "The bracelets remind people to dream God's dreams.
"God's dream envisions a human family that welcomes all," Smith said, and "we are committed to communicating in a multilingual manner." The mission of the division is to empower young people as world-changing disciples of Jesus Christ
In August 2005, the division selected the study topic of HIV/AIDS.
The AIDS Orphan Trust supports community efforts to care for orphans by assisting them with their daily necessities, school fees, and moral and spiritual support. Hundreds of thousands of children in developing countries are being orphaned by AIDS. Many of them are cared for by grandparents or other extended family members, and also may be living in child-headed households. The trust receives support as an Advance giving special (#982842) of the United Methodist Church.
Many times God's dream seems impossible, Smith said. "During this Easter season, we are reminded of the seeming impossibility of the resurrection. Pray and ask God to help you remain steadfast and hopeful until the dreams are realized."
