Central Taiwan Aborigines Rally to "Love, Share, Endure" Taiwan Church News 2828 8-14 May 2006 Reported by Tio Lian-kip. Written by David Alexander

Under the banner of "Love, Share, Endure¨ participants in the Nantou County Aboriginal Village Neighborhood University gathered at Ren-Ai Park in Pu-li Village on May 6th to show each other what they had been doing at their scattered locations. Residents of 12 villages spread across the mountainous county demonstrated traditional dances, cultural arts and language skills in long-suppressed tribal tongues which had been developed through gatherings and reading groups at village classrooms over the past 3 months.

The Taiwan Aboriginal People¡¦s College has developed itself into a Neighborhood University promoting the recovery and renewal of traditional village culture and life. This focus has absorbed the most recent 3 years of the organization¡¦s life and work. Village classrooms, as opposed to central location instruction, were developed over these years, man of them utilizing church facilities. Puli City has recently offered facilities for its own community classroom project.

Whether in the form of dance groups, reading groups, arts classes or language recovery projects, the winds of renewal blow through remote locations in Taiwan¡¦s central mountains.
