National Gay Religious Leaders In Indianapolis For Public Town Hall Meeting $100,000 Indianapolis Media Campaign Includes Thursday Evening Public Town Hall Meeting on Homosexuality and Religion

Campaign Asks: "Would Jesus Discriminate?"

WHAT:

A public Town Hall Meeting on homosexuality and faith is part of a $100,000 media campaign in Indianapolis -- launching a national program to promote understanding for gay and lesbian people of faith.

WHEN: Thursday, June 15 at 7 PM

Jesus Metropolitan Community Church, 2950 East 55th Place, Indianapolis

Dr. Cindi Love

The campaign was conceived by Dr. Cindi Love, a former senior executive with the Toro Corporation and currently Executive Director of Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) -- the world's largest gay and lesbian church group with gay congregations in 26 countries. She will be in Indianapolis on Thursday and Friday of this week and is available for media interviews.

Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson

Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson is the Moderator of Metropolitan Community Churches, the world's largest gay church group with congregations in 26 countries, and a long-time ecumenical and interfaith leader. Rev. Wilson was the only open lesbian to preach at the recent 9th Assembly of the World Council of Churches in Porto Alegre, Brazil. She will be in Indianapolis on Thursday of this week to participate in the Town Hall Meeting.

The campaign is being funded by a major East Coast businessperson -- he will be present for Thursday night's Town Hall Meeting in Indianapolis and will speak.

Rev. Jeff Miner

The campaign is being conducted in Indianapolis by Rev. Jeff Miner, Senior Pastor of the predominantly-LGBT Jesus Metropolitan Community Church. Rev. Miner, himself an openly gay clergyperson, is a graduate of the Christian fundamentalist Bob Jones University as well as Harvard University. Rev. Miner is also available for media interviews throughout this week .
