VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 8/22/06)-Mission Resource Development (MRD) announced today the kick-off to its Good News bulletin insert series.
"One thing that we heard from local churches was the strong desire to know what was going on with their American Baptist brothers and sisters throughout the denomination," said Associate General Secretary for MRD, Rev. Dr. Leo Thorne. "They wanted to know what was happening in churches and communities across the state and across the country; to share in their fellow American Baptists' joy and success as well as pray for their continued efforts."
Drawing on information generated at the local church level, these Good News stories highlight individuals or individual churches that have experienced the outpouring of God's power in their ministries and infused their communities with the energy of the Holy Spirit. The goal is to spread that good news as far and as wide as possible and, by so doing, to plant the seeds for the next generation of good news among American Baptist churches. "These stories will reveal that local churches are doing some terrific work for Christ, and we want to share the good news," said Thorne.
The first installment of these stories features the First Kachin Baptist Church of America in Omaha, NE and their sacrificial offering to help build the Calvary Lodge at Camp Moses Merrill, an American Baptist camp and conference center. View their story here.
This resource will only be available in an online format. Churches can download it from the abc-usa.org website, print them out (two to a sheet), and then cut them in half to fit in a standard size bulletin.
