Seminary news

by Jerry Van Marter

PRINCETON, NJ * A Nov. 15 continuing education event at Princeton Theological Seminary [http://www.ptsem.edu/] addressed the issue, "How Computers Are Changing the New Testament."

The presentation examined a series of new electronic editions of the Gospel of John and their effect on readers and students of the texts. The study of ancient copies of the gospels and comparisons of their texts is revolutionizing the way scholars work and think, according to the presenters.

There were three scholars from the International Greek New Testament Project at the University of Birmingham in England: Bruce Morrill, who studied at Kansas State University and Harding University Graduate School in Memphis; David Parker, a teacher at the university who studied at St. Andrews University in Scotland and Cambridge University; and Ulrich Schmid, who studied at the Universities of Tubingen and Munster.

LOUISVILLE * Construction is fully underway for a new student housing building at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary [http://www.lpts.edu/].

The new one and one-half-story building will be comprised of 24 apartments, four of which have been fitted for ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance. Total cost for the new building and renovation of Schlegel (as well as a campus-wide HVAC upgrade) is $5.1 million.
