ELCA's Barbara Lundblad to preach on 'Day 1' radio program

by John R. Brooks, ELCA News Service

The Rev. Barbara K. Lundblad, associate professor of preaching, Union Theological Seminary, New York, returns to preach Dec. 31 and Jan. 7 on "Day 1," a nationally broadcast radio program accessible via streaming audio and podcast on the Web. Each program includes a sermon preached by Lundblad and a five-minute interview with her by the program's executive producer, Peter Wallace.

For both sermons, Lundblad preaches from the Gospel of Luke and examines two events in the life of Jesus: when he left his parents at the age of 12 and was found three days later in the temple, and his baptism in the Jordan River.

Lundblad has taught preaching at Yale Divinity School, New Haven, Conn.; Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, N.J.; Hebrew Union College, New York; and in the doctor of ministries program of the Association of Chicago Theological Schools. She spent 16 years as a parish pastor at Our Saviour Atonement Lutheran Church, (Manhattan), New York, and served as campus pastor at Lehman College, Bronx, N.Y., and New York University. She has a degree in English from Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and a master of divinity degree from Yale Divinity School.
