AJC Applauds Condemnations of Iran Holocaust Denial Conference

December 22, 2006 - New York - The American Jewish Committee applauds the many statements of Christian and Muslim religious leaders and representatives around the world who condemned the outrageous Holocaust denial conference recently convened in Iran.

"Particularly notable among these declarations was that of the archbishop of Canterbury, who not only deplored such denial of history but also affirmed the critical importance of deepening education about the Holocaust as an eternal warning to humanity," said Rabbi David Rosen, AJC's director of international interreligious affairs.

The Iranian regime's efforts to spread hate and deny history are shameful reminders of their goals to destabilize the region by sponsoring terrorism and undermine any chance for peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
