MECC Deplores Events in Iraq

MECC Grieves for the Death of Evangelical Pastor in Iraq and Condemns Abduction of Another Chaldean Priest.

As violence and the death toll increase daily in Iraq, Christian religious leaders are not spared. MECC learnt with grief of the kidnapping and assassination of Elder Munthir Alsaqa of the National Presbyterian Church in Mosul, as well as of the abduction of Chaldean priest, Fr. Samy Al Raiys, rector of the Chaldean Patriarchate seminary in Baghdad was however released after 6 days of captivity

The MECC presents its sincere condolences to the National Presbyterian church in Mosul, and to Elder Munthir¹s family, condemning such acts of violence.
