AJC Deplores Palestinian Terror Attack in Eilat

January 29, 2007 - New York - The American Jewish Committee strongly condemns today's terror attack by a Palestinian suicide bomber in the Israeli resort town of Eilat.

Tragically, the perpetrator of this outrageous crime chose to carry out his murderous attack at a bakery located in a shopping center in a residential neighborhood, killing three civilians and injuring others. This heinous crime shows once again the cruelty of those who employ the murder of civilians to advance their evil designs.

AJC, long committed to a peaceful settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, maintains that such a settlement only can be achieved when there is a Palestinian leadership committed to a negotiated solution and to the renunciation of terrorism, and is willing and able to act forcefully against terror. The Hamas-led Palestinian government does not meet any of those criteria.

AJC extends its deepest condolences to the victims of this latest attack and their families.
