MECC Executive Committee Meets in Cairo, Egypt The MECC Executive Committee met on March 1&2, 2007 in Mar Morcos Conferenc e Center, Cairo, hosted by H.H. Pope Shenouda III. On the agenda: the approval of previous meeting minutes; MECC General Secretary's report of activities; financial report presented by Ms. Lorenzo, elected Finance Secretary as of March 1, 2007; the forthcoming MECC 9th General Assembly; a proposed plan for future MECC structure and programs; a proposal for a new structure of ICNDR program in Lebanon; the situation in the region in general and in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine in particular.

The Executive Committee took the following decisions:

1-The MECC 9th General Assembly will be held in Cyprus from 26-30 November 2007

A preparatory committee was formed from representatives of the four Familie s of Churches, members of the Council. to prepare with the MECC General Secretariat for the Assembly. The outcome will be presented to the MECC Presidents for approval.

2- The Assembly Preparatory Committee will finalize the proposed MECC structure, taking into consideration the comments made by the Executive Committee members, before May 2007 for approval by MECC Presidents. The proposed structure will be presented to the MECC Partners during their meeting in May 2007.

3-An ad hoc committee was formed of 4 Executive Committee members to furthe r discuss the proposed ICNDR structure and status, for finalization.

4- Service offered by the MECC in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon will continue , despite the difficult circumstances and the limited resources. The meeting called upon those in responsible positions from all categories and sides to work for reducing and ending the suffering in these countries by all available means.

5- The ecumenical and Christian-Muslim dialogues will continue with an emphasis on ³life together² and collaboration to serve the human being in all the Arab countries where the Council works.
