Deadline nears for NNPCW scholarships

Applications for two awards due April 30

LOUISVILLE - The deadline is approaching for two $1,000 undergraduate college scholarships available to young women who are making a difference in the spiritual lives of their peers.

The deadline for applications is April 30.

The scholarships are offered by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s NNPCW (http://www.pcusa.org/nnpcw/) "to help women find their voices on campus, in the church and in the world."

One scholarship is offered to an NNPCW member active in empowering women on her campus. The other is for a new immigrant woman pursuing a college education. Both are need-based.

Applicants for the NNPCW scholarship must be between the ages of 18 and 25, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, a second-year undergraduate or above at a an accredited college or university in the U.S., provide a transcript and be involved in a Christian church or campus ministry.

Applicants for the New Immigrant scholarship must be between the ages of 18 and 25, be a new immigrant to the U.S. (a non-citizen who has lived here less than five years), have applied and/or been accepted to an accredited post-secondary school of higher learning (college, university, trade school), be a full-time student, and involved in a Christian church, preferably the PC(USA).

Applications must include the application form with financial forms, transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, two sealed and notarized letters of recommendation, and two typed and double-spaced essays with name and social security number included (new immigrant applicants must also include visa number).

In addition, applicants for the New Immigrant scholarship must include a copy of their visa and I-94 forms.

Completed applications - the forms are available on the NNPCW Web site - should be mailed to: Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), National Network of Presbyterian College Women, Attn: Scholarship Application, 100 Witherspoon Street, Louisville, KY 40202.
