THE FAITHFUL OF THE GREEK ORTHODOX ARCHDIOCESE OF AMERICA SHARE IN THE PAIN CAUSED BY THE DEVASTATING FIRES IN GREECE

New York - Upon Friday's tragic news of the devastating fires in Greece in vast areas of Peloponesos and Evia, Archbishop Demetrios of America in a message to the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Karolos Papoulias expressed on behalf of the faithful of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America his deep sorrow and concern for the unfathomed tragedy that has befallen the people of the affected areas and the country at large.

He offered the fervent prayers and the caring support of our faithful in America for the many victims and the surviving families of this tragedy, and expressed the strong hope for a quick and definitive end to the catastrophic fires that have ruthlessly plagued Greece throughout this summer.
