VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 01/08/08) - Linda S. Cassel of Scranton, Pennsylvania, has been named Foundation Representative for the two-state area of New York and New Jersey as well as a portion of Pennsylvania.
The appointment was announced by Dr. John B. Jacobs, president of the American Baptist Foundation. In this position, Cassel will work with regional staff and local church pastors and lay leaders to encourage estate planning that will support American Baptist ministry and mission.
For more than a decade and a half, Cassel has been a financial management professional with Bankers Life and Casualty and was awarded the title of "Agent of the Year" on four occasions. For a five-year period, she was an assistant manager in recruiting and training new staff and has been a financial consultant with Bankers Life. She has also offered critical information through seminars on the subjects of "Estate Planning" and "Leaving a Legacy."
Cassel attended Alderson-Broaddus College, an American Baptist institution of higher education in Philippi, West Virginia, and is a graduate of the Life Underwriting Training Council. She is also a certified senior advisor and long-term care specialist.
Lawrence E. Wilson III, executive vice president of the Foundation with responsibilities for field staff, states: "We are pleased to have a person of Linda's caliber and breadth of experience in investment management. This knowledge, added to her passion for the church, will surely advance the important efforts of American Baptists."
Cassel and her husband, the Rev. Earl Cassel, Sr., an American Baptist pastor, have two adult children.
The American Baptist Foundation primarily serves to encourage planned gifts for American Baptist regional, national, and international mission. It is also a center through which such gifts may be made in support of all American Baptist churches and organizations.
