ABCUSA: Marjorie Turner, Longtime National Ministries' Staff Member, Passes Away

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 01/09/08) - Marjorie Beth Turner, former staff member of National Ministries, American Baptist Churches USA, died on Thursday, Jan 3, 2008.

Turner provided personnel and staff development resources at National Ministries from 1969 to 1988. In addition, she was instrumental in determining policies, procedures and other personnel matters.

Turner also worked as a nurse, specializing in neonatal, general hospital and school nursing. She held B.S., R.N. and M.A. degrees from Sioux Falls University and the American Baptist Seminary of the West.

A native of Washington, Iowa, Turner was raised by German Baptist parents. Her father was an American Baptist minister and leader in American Baptist Churches USA.

Turner was a member of Central Baptist Church in Wayne, Pa., where she served on boards and committees, sang in the choir, worked in the library and volunteered for many other ministries.

Above all, Turner will be remembered as a person of tremendous, quiet, inner strength and courage, driven by deep integrity and character.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Nathan, a brother, two sons and six grandchildren.
