VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 01/10/08) - Perkin F. Simpson of Bloomfield, Connecticut has been named Vice President of Finance for the American Baptist Foundation, effective February 4, 2008. This appointment was announced by Dr. John B. Jacobs, president. In this new position, Simpson will oversee the management of the Foundation's planned giving agreements and investments, supervise accounting and auditing procedures, and create reports for the Foundation President, Board, and Finance Committee. These activities ensure the availability of critical information for the growing number of donors who create estate plans that support American Baptist ministry.

Simpson has served as a business analyst for The Hartford Insurance Company, a financial advisor on behalf of UBS Paine Webber, and most recently, as a Retirement Education Consultant with Prudential Retirement. In these roles, he has helped identify the unique financial needs of a wide variety of individuals by conducting investment and estate planning seminars as well as implementing and managing financial recommendations for 401k, 403(b), and traditional pension plans. He has received a number of awards and honors in these capacities.

Simpson is a 1998 graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he majored in communication sciences. He received a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2003 and has completed professional development courses while with The Hartford Insurance Company and UBS Paine Webber.

Lawrence Edw. Wilson III, executive vice president of the Foundation, states: "I have every confidence that God has led Perkin to us because he has exactly the right skill set to continue fueling the Foundation's consistent and enviable growth. He will be an important addition to our staff - each of us passionate to do the work of the Kingdom among individuals and churches across our country, enabling American Baptist mission to thrive around the world."

Simpson and his wife, Lisa, are the parents of two young boys, Christian and Scotland. They are members of the New Horizon Baptist Church of Manchester, Connecticut.
