On the 30th of December 2007, the MECC General Secretary met with Heads of churches in Damascus, Syria, His Beatitude Patriarch Ignatius IV Hazim of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch, His Holiness Patriarch Zakka I Iwas o f the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch, and Vice Patriarch His Grace Bishop Joseph Absi of the Greek Melkite Catholic Church. The two Patriarchs congratulated the General Secretary on re-electing him at the last Assembly , discussed with him the Council¹s vision, and the relationships between churches.
