VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 04/10/08) - Donald Martin, director of Facilities Planning and Maintenance, ABCUSA, died Tuesday night, April 8 in Philadelphia, Penn. following complications during surgery. He was 56.

"Our hearts go out to Don's family with his tragic death," said Rev. A. Roy Medley, general secretary for ABCUSA. "We certainly will miss him as one of our longest serving and dedicated staff members. Don had an amazing ability to juggle a lot of balls in the air and do it with great aplomb and dexterity. We will miss his jovial personality and the many skills he brought to his task in maintaining and marketing the building. Don was a wonderful disciple of Jesus who was active in his church and had a real concern for others."

Martin worked in the Valley Forge Mission Center for over 36 years. His most recent duties involved working with the different American Baptist boards in relation to the building sale agreement and planning the move of staff from the third floor to the second floor of the building.

Martin is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth, their three children, Jennifer, Gregory and Eric, and by his mother, Clara, and sister, Linda. His son, Eric, also serves as the Distribution/Literature Services Coordinator in the ABCUSA Traffic Department.

A viewing will be held at the Faith Church of Worcester, 1341 Quarry Hall Rd, Norristown, PA from 10-11 a.m. with services immediately following at 11 a.m. Cards and flowers may be sent to 1428 Fairview Ln, Pottstown, PA 19464.
