QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN OVERCOMING VIOLENCE

The annual seminar of the MECC/ELD Program Schools Related to Churches
welcomed 75 participants of directors, supervisors and educators from
different church schools in Cairo - Egypt (28 31 August) under the theme:
³Quality of Education in Overcoming Violence and Peace Building². The
seminar is organized to highlight the role of the schools in education abou t
non-violence and peace making investment in education. In his address to th e
participants, the MECC General Secretary affirmed that the schools related
to churches have, in addition to its ongoing education curriculum, a specia l
mission to work on which is of educating generations of youth to be ³peace
makers in their society, build a society which respects coexistence, and
formation on accepting the others². Speakers presented their papers
referring to values of love, coexistence, overcoming violence, restoring
education, and criteria of restoration. Rev. Dr. Safwat Al-Bayyadi, MECC
President reflected in his paper on love as a tool to overcome violence and
