Kenya Churches Promote AIDS and HIV testing

Nairobi, September 5, 2008

Faith Based Organisations (FBOs) and Churches in Nairobi, have invited Eminent Church Leaders and Personalities for HIV Voluntary Counseling and Testing on September 5th , 2008. The event will take place at the Mathare IDP Camp from 12.00-2.00 p.m. The occasion will be the climax of a six-day week events aimed at giving hope to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and to show Churches' solidarity in response to HIV and AIDS.

Churches and FBOs have been conducting HIV and AIDS mainstreaming activities and information sharing on a wide range of issues namely:
"	Gender Based Violence;
" Nutritional Information for People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) and distribution of food and non-food items;
"	Anti-Retroviral (ARV) therapy;
"	Psycho-social Support (including Voluntary Counseling and Testing - VCT).

Friday will be the climax of the week-long activities.
