Responding to the needs of churches in raising awareness on the concept and
practices of ³Democracy² as a political value rather than a political
affiliation, the JPHR program organized a sub -regional training workshop i n
Beth Ania Conference Centre ­ Lebanon (28 August ­ 2 September) on ³Conflic t
Prevention and Democracy. Participants from Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine
who are considered middle age activists and initiators of activities in
their small communities came together to exchange experiences and ideas,
learn about implementation of initiatives. The JPHR program executed the
implementation of a project on ³Peaceful Transition towards Democracy² at
the local community¹s level with the help of church representatives, local
NGOs and religious related organizations. The project concentrates on value s
which have political terminologies such as the following: Social Defenses:
its components and necessary programs and projects to be developed, the
equal participation and democracy in the society, the citizen¹s power in th e
social transformation.
