As predicted record numbers of voters venture out to cast their ballots, the United Church of Christ's denominational headquarters at 700 Prospect Ave., is hosting Cleveland's 13-K polling precinct in the Nov. 4, 2008, general election.

Voting booths and elections officials are occupying a salon space owned by the Radisson Hotel and leased for use by the UCC Church House and other organizations.

Like many churches throughout the country, the UCC headquarters offers use of its facilities to elections boards for voting. Building manager, Alan Wolfe, said the location has been used by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections for the past several years.

Poll workers said that the turnout was as they expected and that Cleveland's downtown residents had not experienced long waits, overcrowding or voting abnormalities at the site.
