ACC commits to communion's peace, justice and reconciliation work
>By Mary Frances Schjonberg
[Episcopal News Service -- Kingston, Jamaica] The representatives of the
Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) meeting here on May 5 passed a series of
resolutions dealing with issues ranging from translation of Anglican
theological works to the ongoing bloodshed in Sudan.
The resolutions came from some of the Anglican Communion's officially
sanctioned networks. The ACC recognizes groups of Anglicans who want to
organize formally around a ministry or issue and monitors the networks'
efforts. The council is meeting from May 2 to 12.

'Evolving' covenant adoption process makes for ambiguity
>By Mary Frances Schjonberg
[Episcopal News Service -- Kingston, Jamaica] Two leaders in the development
of the proposed Anglican covenant said here May 5 that the process which
might be used for Anglican entities to adopt the document is "evolving,"
even as that evolution has made for some seemingly contradictory statements
in the past days.
Anglican Communion Deputy Secretary General Gregory Cameron told reporters
"we're feeling our way" in terms of the implications for those provinces
that decide not to sign onto the covenant, whether entities other than the
provinces which are now members of the Anglican Consultative Council (as
listed in the council's constitution) would be allowed to adopt the covenant
and whether there would be a time limit for provinces to decide.

Williams calls for more cohesive, theologically aware communion
Anglican Consultative Council considers recommendations for strengthening
bonds
>By Mary Frances Schjonberg
[Episcopal News Service -- Kingston, Jamaica] Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan
Williams told the representatives of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC)
meeting here May 5 that he wants the Anglican Communion be "more cohesive
and more theologically aware."
During his 40-minute presentation on the recommendations of the Windsor
Continuation Group's final report, Williams said that he does not have
"complete and absolute confidence that the Anglican Communion in something
like the form it had 20 years ago is going to survive this crisis" over
authority and differing theological perspectives.

Rogation Sunday is topic of May 17 bulletin inserts
[Episcopal News Service] Rogationtide, the celebration of God's bounty and
the fruitfulness of the earth on the sixth Sunday of Easter and the days
leading up to the Day of Ascension, is gaining new popularity as increasing
numbers of Episcopal churches sponsor or host community garden projects,
both to raise healthy food and to provide for those who can't afford to buy
fresh produce. Episcopal Life Weekly bulletin inserts for May 17 trace the
purpose of Rogation Days, drawing from the writings of 17th-century priest
and poet George Herbert.
