Formosan Association for Human Rights former Director Wang Ting-shiuan
along with his friends Ted and Bernice Anderson visited Presbyterian Church in
Taiwan (PCT) headquarter offices on September 2nd and were greeted by
General Secretary Andrew Chang, Assistant Moderator Lai Hsien-chang, and
>Ecumenical Committee Secretary Hu Hong-chi.
The trio was visiting on behalf of the association to make three financial
contributions for victims of Typhoon Morakot. They also visited Tucheng
detention center in Taipei where former President Chen Shui-bian is staying and
conveyed to him their best wishes on behalf of Taiwanese people living abroad.
During their stop at PCT, Chang gave an overview of rescue and relief efforts
and rebuilding efforts to his guests. Wang delivered three donations for Morakot
victims on behalf of Formosan Association for Human Rights, along with a letter
concerning relief efforts, support for the detained former President, and
safeguarding Taiwan’s future. The letter expressed gratitude to volunteers for
their efforts and condemned President Ma for mishandling Typhoon Morakot and
>former President Chen’s trial.
Chang also brought up during conversations that PCT pastors had been visiting
former President Chen and his family in the past few months and had been at the
former First Family’s side throughout the whole ordeal in hopes of encouraging
>them to trust in God.
After concluding their meeting, the delegation and PCT leaders joined hands to
>pray together for Taiwan and Morakot victims.
