Kevin Keener to lead workshop on use of copyrighted works

The use of copyrighted works to provide a revenue stream or to promote
a message for religious communities will be the focus of a workshop to
be led by Kevin Keener, Principal at Keener Law Firm, at the Religion
Communication Congress in Chicago, April 7-10, 2010.

In "Using Works to Further Your Message: How Copyright Law Applies to
Communities of Faith," Keener will explain the structure of copyright
law and how it applies to the religious community. Religious
organizations can use copyright law to their advantage, regardless of
whether the goal is to provide a revenue stream for the mission or to
promote a message to the largest audience possible. The workshop will
focus on the permissible use of copyrighted works created outside of a
religious organization and the use of works created by the
organization itself.

The Religion Communication Congress (RCCongress 2010) is an
international, interfaith gathering of religion communicators held
every ten years offering cutting edge skills-building workshops,
challenging plenary speakers, and networking opportunities with
communications professionals. Registration for the April 7-10, 2010
event in Chicago is open to any religion communicator who seeks to be
more effective in telling the stories of his or her faith group and to
share faith expressions with one another. For more information, visit
