PCT General Secretary calls for prayers and financial support for troubled NETV
>Reported by Taiwan Church News
>Written by Lydia Ma
In recent days, the managing director of PCT-affiliated New Eyes Television
(NETV) resigned from his post. Hsu Te-yi tendered his resignation to PCT Mass
>Media Foundation at the end of September.
PCT General Assembly Moderator Leonard Lin commented that though he was
sad to see Hsu go, he was also grateful for Hsu’s efforts. He hoped that NETV
would overcome recent challenges and continue proclaiming the gospel through
>mass media communications.
PCT General Secretary Andrew Chang reassured the network would go on as
usual despite Hsu’s resignation, but also urged churches to support NETV
through their prayers and financial donations during this challenging season.
NETV began airing in 2008 and has earned accolades from critics for its high-
quality programming. Last year, five of its programs were nominated by Taiwan
Media Watch for quality programs for children and youth and four more programs
were added to the list of quality programs this year.
Approximately 93% of Taiwan’s population can watch NETV through cable
television. Overseas Taiwanese living in South America, U.S. east coast, etc.
can also watch it via satellite television or through internet broadcast.
Chang said PCT was determined to keep NETV up and running, but added that
if only 40,000 Christians would donate NT$200 each to NETV every month, the
network would have sufficient funds to cover daily operations and continue
sharing the gospel with the rest of the world.
