Youth within PCT love Taiwan and feel a strong sense of attachment to this land. This was
evident during PCT youth fellowship’s (also known as TKC) 60th anniversary celebrations held
on November 29th at Chang Jung Christian University where over 700 youth from all over
Taiwan belonging to a PCT local church came together for a worship service followed by a
small carnival. These events were organized to celebrate the 60th anniversary of TKC.
During the service, a brief moment of silence was observed to remember victims of Typhoon
Morakot. Youth also listened to a presentation on the history of TKC since its inception in
1949. Previous PCT Youth Ministry Committee secretaries were also invited to share their
>experiences while serving as secretary.
According to Lyim, who had also served as Youth Ministry Committee Secretary at one time,
youth are important players in the life of a church in every generation. Looking back at TKC’s
history, youth were the ones who fueled the flame of evangelism, spoke out on the need for the
church to address national security issues, and pursued a life of truth and love. Lyim said he
hoped that church youth today can get to know their country better, offer themselves to God,
>and live a life led by God’s love.
First PCT Youth Ministry Committee Secretary, Hsieh Shi-ming, reminisced that when he
became secretary in 1971 and was put in charge of PCT youth, college, and education
ministries, he overcame many challenges and experienced many failures. However, he also
realized during his 9 year tenure that the task of transforming young lives was truly important.
Hsieh said he hoped that today’s youth can keep on dreaming for God and following Jesus
>closely.
