Faith groups express hopes for Copenhagen Climate Change Conference

>By Phina Borgeson

[Episcopal News Service] As delegates gather in Copenhagen for the
United Nations Climate Change Conference Dec. 7-18, the hopes of faith
groups concerned are represented in written statements and personal
witness.

The Rev. Jeff Golliher, program associate for the environment and
sustainable development in the Office of the Anglican Observer at the
U.N., has led a delegation of concerned leaders from around the
communion.

Drawn primarily from the global south, members of the delegation
include Eliud Njeru Njiru of Kenya, a member of the Anglican Communion
Environmental Network (ACEN), and the Rev. Grace Kaiso, general
secretary of the Council of Anglican Provinces of Africa. Marco Lutaya
and Anna Gula, also from the Anglican Observer's office, are
attending.

>OPINION

>Copenhagen: Jesus with a bullhorn

>By Michael Schut

[Episcopal News Service] Imagine you are home. Not necessarily the
place where you lay your head to rest each night, but the place that
feels like home in your bones, in your heart.

Remember the laughter, the tears; maybe the snap of the fall air
flushing your cheeks, the hammer of heat, the dew on a soft morning;
or the pigeons' soothing call, the tapping of tree limbs in the wind;
or the tide caressing, then slamming, the shore. Now imagine it's all
gone. And you can't go back.

>SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS

December 13, 2009 - Third Sunday of Advent - Year C

(RCL) Zephaniah 3:14-20; Canticle 9; Philippians 4:4-7; Luke 3:7-18

>By the Rev. Danáe Ashley

[Sermons That Work] Have you ever heard the saying, "It's not what you
know, it's who you know?" Networking has been an established social
function in society for as long as there have been people. We often
use our connections to get us into social circles and places we might
have difficulty getting into alone.

On television shows and in the media we see people getting things they
want because of their family connections or social circles. Most of us
have probably done the something like that too. For example, we would
rather go to someone we know or to someone recommended than go to a
stranger for a haircut or to get our car fixed. That sort of
networking is harmless, right?

United States to study at General Seminary because the Anglican Church
