ENS Weekly bulletin inserts for Feb. 14 mark World Mission Sunday
[Episcopal News Service] The church's work around the world is as
important as its work around the corner. To increase awareness of --
and participation in -- the wider global mission of the church, the
last Sunday in Epiphany is designated as World Mission Sunday.
Episcopal News Service Weekly bulletin inserts for that day - Feb. 14
- outline the day's theme, World Mission and the Environment, and
includes information about companion diocese relationships, one of the
most important avenues for mission in the Episcopal Church and the
Anglican Communion.
The full text of the insert is below. Additional resources for World
Mission Sunday, including posters in English and Spanish, are
available at http://www.episcopalchurch.org/wmsunday.
Bulletin inserts may be downloaded at

ENGLAND: 'Jesus wouldn't want bishops in House of Lords,' says critic
>By Trevor Grundy
[Ecumenical News International, London] If Jesus were on earth today,
he would ask why the Church of England still has 26 of its bishops in
U.K.'s unelected upper chamber of parliament, the House of Lords, a
British commentator on Christian affairs has said.

Top 10 iPhone apps for organizing a priest's life
>By Michael Pipkin
[Episcopal News Service] As priest-in-charge of a growing church, I am
in good company with many of my colleagues when it comes to finding a
happy balance between work, family and everything else that life
throws at us.
The church is a sometimes-frenetic place that often doesn't fit well
into our culture's 9 to 5, Monday through Friday paradigm. How do we
find time to help out with grocery shopping, house cleaning, plan for
vestry meetings and worship, manage staff, read and respond to 100+
e-mails a day, spend time with our children, plan a great adult
education program, spend meaningful time with our spouse, and
cultivate a rich spiritual life that feeds?

>CATALYST
EBaR Pick: "Pilgrim Road: A Benedictine Journey through Lent" from
Church Publishing, Inc., by Albert Holtz, O.S.B., 178 pages,
paperback, c. 2006, $11
[Church Publishing, Inc.] In the view of St. Benedict of Nursia, the
Lenten journey is an inner pilgrimage with Christ into the deepest
parts of ourselves, to be marked not so much by external observances
such as fasting and self-denial as by a deepening of our relationship
with God.
Benedictine monk Albert Holtz develops that journey theme through
meditations written during a 15-country pilgrimage during a sabbatical
year. At the heart of each reflection is the lesson it teaches about
our inner spiritual journey.
By applying Benedict's monastic wisdom to the everyday concerns and
aspirations of modern Christians, Pilgrim Road helps contemporary
spiritual seekers keep Lent as a positive, meaningful, and fruitful
experience.
