Sleep Out wakes youth to homeless causes

   ELMHURST, Ill. (UMNS) — In DuPage County where foreclosures are on the rise,
   youth at First United Methodist Church spent a cold night outside in boxes
   to raise money for transitional housing and raise awareness about
   homelessness, the Elmhurst Patch reports.

Sierra Leone appoints 2 women to D.S. posts

   FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (UMNS) — The Sierra Leone Annual (regional)
   Conference now has two female district superintendents, ending a 15-year
   absence of women in this position.
   The appointments of the Rev Mariama Bockari, 52, and the Rev. Etta Nicol,
   70, give hope for female leadership in the church at a time when women in
   the country are yearning for equal representation in decision-making at the
   national level.

CBS to air interfaith special on Dec. 4

   NEW YORK (UMNS) — An interfaith religion special, “Finding Common Ground:
   Today’s Interfaith Movement,” will be broadcast Dec. 4 on [21]CBS stations.
   Among those featured is the Rev. Paul Clark, chaplain of United
   Methodist-related Albright College, and Jack Gombach, a student, involved
   with the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge
   announced last March by the White House.

Methodists to attend migration forum

   NEW YORK (UMNS) — Eighteen Methodists, hosted by the United Methodist Board
   of Global Ministries, will attend a grassroots event on migration organized
   by Migrant Rights International Nov. 28-Dec. 2 in Geneva, Switzerland.

   NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) — United Methodist Communications received three
   awards from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals
   for documentaries produced by the agency: [24]“A Killer in the Dark: An
   Extraordinary Effort to Combat Malaria” and [25]“Dreamer.” The international
   awards competition recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing
   and communications professionals.
