Graduate students
receive Schisler awards

     NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) -- Twelve graduate students preparing
for careers in Christian education are recipients of the 1996-97
John Q. Schisler Graduate Awards.
     Given by the United Methodist Board of Higher Education and
Ministry's Office of Loans and Scholarships and its Division of
Diaconal Ministry, the 12 scholarships total $16,500. 
     The grants honor the late John Q. Schisler, executive
secretary of the former Methodist Board of Education's local
church division. They are designed to help graduate students who
have chosen careers as professional local church Christian
educators.
     The 1996-97 recipients are:
     * Mary Doub, Pfeiffer College, Misenheimer, N.C.;
     * Holly Hemmer, Presbyterian School of Christian Education,
Richmond, Va.;
     * Amy Kelley, Duke University Divinity School, Durham, N.C.;
     * Michael Ludle, Methodist Theological School in Ohio,
Delaware, Ohio; 
     * Lisa Marchal, Methodist Theological School in Ohio,
Delaware, Ohio;
     * Mary Parrish, Memphis Theological Seminary, Memphis, Tenn.;
     * Elizabeth Sadlak, Memphis Theological Seminary, Memphis,
Tenn.;
     * Sean Smoak, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary,
Evanston, Ill.;
     * Dallas Terrell, Gammon Theological Seminary, Atlanta, Ga.;
     * Nancy Walker, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary,
Evanston, Ill.;
     * N. Lynn Westfield, The Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio;
