     Certified Public Accountants throughout the Presbyterian Church 
(U.S.A.) have spoken loudly. 
     A story in the January 12 "NEWS BRIEFS" (#95457) incorrectly 
identified Financial Accounting Standards Bureau (FASB) statements as 
"federal regulations."  FASB statements are unrelated to federal government 
regulations. 
     FASB statements are accounting industry standards.  The Presbyterian 
Church (U.S.A.) has long followed them as a matter of policy.  In March 
1995 the General Assembly Council approved the implementation of the FASB 
statements described in the story.
