95382 MCCORMICK SEMINARY OFFERS FOR-CREDIT COURSE
IN CONJUNCTION WITH TENTMAKERS CONFERENCE
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, in conjunction
with the Association of Presbyterian Tentmakers (APT), is offering students
interested in tentmaking ministries the opportunity to earn seminary
credits by attending the APT annual conference, to be held Nov. 3-5.
The conference, "Strengthening the Tentmaking Stakes," will be held at
the Center for Development in Ministry in Mundelein, Ill., near Chicago.
Keynote speaker is the Rev. Jim Greene, a Baptist minister, health care
consultant, entrpeneur, former campus minister, professor and missionary.
He is the author of "Dual Career Ministers," a handbook for seminary
students pursuing dual-career options.
Tentmakers are ordained pastors who earn their living by secular
employment.
The for-credit program offered by McCormick will involve attendance at
the APT conference, reading and research, and the completion of a written
paper about some aspect or implication of tentmaking. Faculty adviser for
the program is the Rev. Kenneth E. Hindman, professor of ministry at the
seminary.
