           DISABILITIES CONCERNS LEADER DIES SUDDENLY

                     by Jerry L. Van Marter

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--Nancy Jennings, a long time leader in efforts
to heighten awareness in the Presbyterian Church and society about
the concerns of persons with disabilities, died suddenly Jan. 22
at her home here.

While the exact cause of death has not been determined,
doctors believe she died as a result of a seizure.

Jennings was a founding member of Presbyterians for
Disabilities Concerns (PDC), serving as president of that group for
a number of years. She was also well known in Santa Fe Presbytery
and the New Mexico Council of Churches for her patient but
persistent work for the inclusion of all people in the life of the
church and society.

She had just completed a leadership role on behalf of PDC at
the 1995 Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association
biennial conference in New Orleans. PDC is one of the constituent
networks of the association.

Services for Nancy Jennings will be held Friday, Jan. 27, at
First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque. She is survived by her
husband and two sons and their families.
